Themes and Transformations in Old Testament Prophecy by Samuel A. Meier

(Chapter 3 is interesting. "Is the future determined?" Open Theist perspective.)

Especially enjoyed chapter 15! "Reliable prophets in the context of change"

While recognizing that some degree of uncertainty cannot be eliminated, he gives some biblical earmarks of true prophets -- all with good biblical support.
1. They live in poverty.
2. They often bear bad news. Especially bad before good.
3. They give the minority report.
4. Their predictions come true (unless conditions change. And bearing in mind that this test is quite limited, since it takes time to "wait and see".)
