Jesus On Works

From the Gospel of Matthew



Jesus preached repentance - Mat 4:17

Beatitudes - blessed people act a certain way - Mat 5:3-12

Must be more righteous than the Scribes and Pharisees - Mat 5:20

Better to go through life blind than to sin with your eyes and go to hell - Mat 5:27-30

Kindness to enemies part of being children of God - Mat 5:43-45

Forgive or you will not be forgiven - Mat 6:14-15

We will be judged as we judge - Mat 7:1-2

The path of life is difficult, narrow, and unpopular - Mat 7:13-14

Fruit is test of claims - Mat 7:19-20

Doing God's will essential to eternal life - Mat 7:21

Confess God or God will deny you - Mat 10:32-33

Total commitment required by God - Mat 10:37-39

Kingdom of heaven taken by force - Mat 11:12

We will be judged by our words - Mat 12:33-36

Those who do God's will are the family of Jesus - Mat 12:46-50

Must guard the seed of the word - Mat 13:20-21

The righteous will shine but the iniquitous will burn Mat 13:41-43

Take up cross - reward according to works - Mat 16:24-27

The Father will not forgive those who refuse to forgive from the heart - Mat 18:23-35

Obedience the path of life - Mat 19:16-18

Those who do the will of the Father will enter the kingdom - Mat 21:28-31

The nation that did not bear fruit had the kingdom of God taken from it - Mat 21:33-43

The faithful servant will be rewarded. But the unfaithful servant will be punished - Mat 24:45-51

We must receive and put on the righteousness (wedding garment) God gives - Mat 22:1-14

Discernment, fervent love, and endurance required of those who will be saved - Mat 24:11-13

Faithful servants will be rewarded. Unfaithfulness will be punished - Mat 24:45-51

Watchful are rewarded(wise/foolish virgins) - Mat 25:1-13

Good use of talents rewarded. Talent hiders are cast into outer darkness - Mat 25:14-30

Sheep and goats judged on basis of action (or inaction) - Mat 25:31-46

Jesus sent his disciples to make more disciples, "teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you" - Mat 28:19-20
